The Deluxe Hybrid Fuzz Box
Germanium and Silicon Hybrid Fuzz Box
This is my ( Jonny Hafer, Owner -Designer -Builder )personal Signature pedal if there was such a thing. I built the Original Hybrid Fuzz to deal with issues I was having in the studio and live performances. My band plays out and records quite a bit and if you use a lot of vintage fuzz pedal you may find that they don't always sit in the mix correctly, you really have to jack the volume to get the out front. This Deluxe version features the Same Circuitry as the regular Hybrid with the addition of the Gain control and the post saturation Tone control these along with the original Pre-Saturation tone control, Fuzz, Internal Bias and Master Volume. The Germanium stage offers the warmth and round sound associated with Germanium, while the Silicon keeps things stable and the bass frequencies from getting overly woolly or muddy. The Gin and Fuzz controls are very interactive as well letting you choose were to pull back signal or blast the circuitry with it.

Only quality components are used in Sound Sounds Fuzz Pedals. From the Dale resistors to the ERO, BC Philips, Sprague, Mallory, Wima and Vishay capacitors. I use Phier and Bourns trim pots for internal Biasing. For external controls I use 16mm Alpha Pots. The foot switching is covered by a specially designed for stomp boxes foot switch which is rated for hundred of thousands more uses than the normal Blue Chinese switches normally seen in boutique pedals. New for the 2nd run of DLX Hybrid Fuzz's LEDs are now standard. You also have the choice of Battery drawer or AC adapter jack & battery clip.

The Hybrid Fuzz Box
Hybrid Germanium & Silicon Fuzz Face / Tone Bender Bliss
The Hybrid Fuzz take a classic circuit and injects some modern Silicon Stability into the Warm Round Sustaining tone of the Germanium Transistor.
You get better temperature stability, Tighter Bass you don't get that woolly Muddy bass tone sometimes associated with 100% germanium circuits. Dont get me wrong Germanium circuits are amazing and have there place on my pedal board, But for my rhythm tone I love the better frequency range, the boost in overall volume and mid-range, which really helps the guitar sit where it needs to in the mix. What the tone control does is this: the biggest difrences between the fuzz face and tonebender are the input caps which control how fat or thin the signal is. My tone control starts at the thinner input setting of the Tone Bender and goes to the thick input setting of the Fuzz Face. This allows you to have the input range of the Tone Bender all the way to the Fuzz Face and/or anything in between.

The 5 Knob Fuzz
100% Germanium Transistor fuzz box
With the 5 controls of this pedal you can cover both the fuzz face and the tone bender mk1.5 fuzz pedals. This is done by being able to adjust the input cap from treble (tone-bender value) to bass (fuzz face value) the great thing is you can also set it up any where between the two values since its set up on a tone knob. You also have a gain control which really adds complexity going from an open gorgeous tone to a much more compressed sound. then there is also the 2 stage bias system. This works by letting adjust the overall bias internally then offering a fine tune bias externally. I have sold around 50 of these now and not had a single unit returned.
Features:
* NOS Germanium Transistors selected for tone. I don't brag about specific model numbers. Ill use what ever I need to achieve the tone of the specific model.
* High Quality parts used throughout the pedal. From the Alpha Pots to the ERO, Wima, Sprague and Vishay capacitors
* You can cover Most Fuzz Face and Tone Bender mk1.5 tones with this pedal dues to the added controls which allow you to blend the differences of both pedals

Customer Testimony:
Newest addition to my board: The Sound Sounds Bigger Muff. A fuzz circuit derived off the classic Muff, but with an upgraded eq section to deliver more presence and clarity. Also features a switch to drop upgraded eq, allowing the pedal sound more akin to a Tonebender. All in all, a very versatile fuzz box, and my personal favorite out of any I've ever owned. Will be posting a demo video as soon as I can find a camera with a mic that can handle the thick lows. Biggest of thanks to Sound sounds for making this dream a reality, can't say enough good things. Give him a shout for all your fuzz pedal needs - Jimmy Takacs |
Sound Sounds Rams Horn
A Rams bare head is never going to win against a Rams Horn. This is my version of the Big Muff Pi. I based this on a mixture of early Big Muffs, with my own EQ circuit as I have never been a fan of the loss of mids that big muff are known for. My EQ circuit has much more clarity more bottom end more high and mid frequencies. All Rams Horn pedals come with mechanical True bypass switching. LED status light and AC jack for standard negative center power adapters. |
